The Tower of Babel Issue

Old paperDifferent tongues.

How does an author deal with ¾ of the Cozy Mystery’s cast speaking different languages? Especially difficult is when the lead sleuth doesn’t speak a speck of them. (The co-lead in the program is fluent in all and translates for her.)

So, how do you write that without burying your readers in “he said’s” and “she said’s”?
