I work hard at avoiding caricatures.
The oversimplification of a person into a stereotypical “type” is insulting to both character and author.
However, writing a Cozy Mystery set in the deep, rural South, “caricature pitfalls” are everywhere. I fear I’m becoming hypersensitive to it, in fact.
Jumpy.

For a girl who gets jittery over an empty jar of peanut butter, this is a discouraging development.
Until tomorrow…
